I’m a little late to the New Year’s Resolutions game, but typically I make changes at random times throughout the year. So, I don’t put too much emphasis on the new year because I know I can change my habits at any point in the year. Regardless, I still make goals that I’d like to pursue year round and I’d like to share them with you! Maybe you can get some inspiration from mine, or maybe you’re just nosy and want to know them. Either way, thanks for being here!
1. Read More
I’m glad to be getting my education, but I’d really like to get back to reading for pleasure instead of reading textbooks that put me to sleep. You know, the books that you read and then look up from the page and don’t even know what you just read. Yeah…I’m done with associating reading with an exam or writing assignment. I kicked off the year by treating myself to some new books that range from blogging how-tos to motivational books. More blog posts on those soon!
2. Stop Comparing Myself
I’m sure this is something that everyone struggles with, but as someone who practically lives on social media–it can be hard! I’m guilty of comparing myself to girls who are prettier, wealthier, and who seemingly have a perfect life. I see all the places they travel to and I wish so bad that it was me in their place. I see women with designer bags and shoes and I wish I could afford them. I see girls with amazing bodies and beautiful faces and I wish I looked like them.
To combat all that negativity, I just try to turn it into motivation. Do I want that dream vacation or that Gucci bag? Well, then I need to work hard and save up. I also have to remind myself that I’m a student with no real reliable source of income at the moment. I can’t look at these already established bloggers or influencers and expect that life to just fall into my lap. As for women with the fittest body, I know I can look like that, it’s just going to take a lot of hard work! Tammy Hembrow, you are my everything.
3. Bullet Journal More
Last year I started my bullet journal. I ended up falling off as soon as finals hit and I was drowning in class material. I’m the type of person that always makes random lists and doodles and notes, so a bullet journal was a perfect place to keep all my thoughts. I really want to become more organized this year as well, and I think bullet journaling could really help with that.
4. Blog Consistently
This one is pretty straightforward. My bullet journal wasn’t the only thing that fell off the map; my poor blog was neglected to the point that I took the link off my Instagram because it was just too embarrassing. If you’re reading this right now and you’d like to keep up with my blog this year then go ahead and sign up for my newsletter (shameless plug). I won’t spam your email or anything like that. To be honest, I haven’t entirely figured out mailing newsletters yet. #ProBlogger. I’d like to be a better blogger overall. Hold me accountable, guys!
5. Drink More Water
This past year I got pretty good at drinking a lot of water. I tried to stop buying sweet tea or fruit juices so that I’d be forced to drink more water. I think it worked because now I crave water instead of sugary drinks. One of my Christmas presents was actually the Hidrate Spark Bottle which tracks how much water you drink AND the bottle lights up when you need to drink more! It’s an expensive ass bottle, which is exactly why I asked for it as a gift haha. I couldn’t justify buying it for myself, but maybe you can!
Welp, those are my resolutions. I’m not perfect and I’m not setting crazy unrealistic goals. I know it’s all about baby steps and consistency. Hopefully, I can stick with these resolutions and become Trace X iOS 18, new and improved. I’m tired of life hitting me with the swipe-left. Let’s make 2018 our FREAKIN’ YEAR, together.
